So I just moved in to my new apartment in Chicago on Friday and so far I am loving it! The place is really fantastic, the apt is amazing, the view is unbelievable, and a whole host of other superlatives about various other attributes of my new life here. That is not to say that things have been a bed of roses though.
My lovely, talented, and incredibly kind sister helped me move up here over the weekend and we actually pulled it all off with no serious problems. We had a few traffic issues on and off and the actual acts of loading the truck and moving the stuff into the apt were gruelling. The main thing I took away from the move experience was: I have too much crap. Or, more realistically, I have too many books. Unfortuantely, I am a packrat and a book fanatic and so this problem is only going to get worse as my life goes on. The solution: From now on, pay other people to move my things. I am guessing that it will ultimately be worth it for me to just spend the couple hundred bucks to pay people to move my things from this day forth and I am looking forward to the idea of never having to lug boxes again.
Since I have been here though, there has been an ever growing list of small problems with the apartment that I need to get fixed ASAP (or questions that need to get answered). They are mostly little thing and frankly it shouldn't be a shock to me because I live in a brand new highrise. I hope to talk to the real estate lady today and get a lot of these things settled.
I spent all freaking morning with the cable guy trying to get the cable working. He was here for hours hunting around the apartment for a small panel on the wall that he claims has to be here but does not, in fact, appear to exist. He believed that finding this magical little box would solve all of the cable problems but failed to explain, in his interesting eastern european accent, why such a thing would be so. Ultimately, the problem was the cable modem we were trying to use and once we replaced that, things worked fine. The cable guy was actually really patient and helpful despite being clearly busy.
Also, my new suitcase came today. It appears well worth the almost $300 I paid for it.
More news and pics coming soon!

I hate my teeth
One of my stupid wisdom teeth is pushing on one of my molars. It just started bugging me today but I am hoping it will ease up. I really have no desire to have my wisdom teeth removed. That, and I don't have dental insurance right now. Fuck.

To those about to get baked, we salute you
Just got back from Chi-town this morning. I had a blast this weekend and am really excited about moving up there. I visited India town for some great Indian food and saw Pan's Labyrinth which was good but really strange and violent. Spent the rest of the weekend working out and chilling with a friend.
I got a call from the university recruiter at the company I interviewed with and he said that he didn't know any exact figure yet but that they typically offer significantly more than my other offer. He claims that they will get me the real offer soon.
Apparently another friend of mine almost OD'd on 'shrooms this weekend. He says he had a blast except for the vomiting and horrible paranoia. That's what happens when I leave him alone.
