So what did you do today...?
I became an SVN wizard (note that I say wizard and not guru because I am not quite there yet...). I am now able to set up a new SVN repository on a machine and give remote users access to it in 15-30 mins. All it took to get me here was little sleep or food and an obsessive (there's that word again...) need to get it done. Oh, and yesterday I effectively became the team leader for an entire class full of people (including the teacher). It's been a long week.

ok, so i'm a doofus. but what is SVN?
Skylar, I'd like to know that too.
It is never a good sign when you have to lead the teacher....but when your the wizard than that is just expected I suppose
SVN is the abbreviation used for a program called Subversion. It is the newest (although not very new) incarnation in the world of sequential data storage. Basically, it saves any file you give it based on changes you made from the prior version of that file. These things give nerds pleasure...
yay! i can post!
it's also expected that you'll have to lead the class when you teacher is just doing it because that's what's expected when you get a PhD - rather than doing it because he (she?) actually is interested in teaching.
I lead the teacher because he realized that the project had been going on for 5 years and he had no clue what was going on or how to get it finished...
