Mad, mad day!
It has been a wild day. I find out that another grad here is hating this department and thinking of leaving. I had a great conversation with someone that I thought I was losing touch with. I gave a fantastic presentation. I got another book from my teacher. I found out that there is someone in this department who used to work at the company that I want to work for in Chicago (and someone praised me to this person). AND I found out that a good friend of mine is getting married and moving to England. Mad, mad day.

sounds more like a good, good day. i love finding other bitter people. it makes life so much more interesting.
congrats on the presentation and on being recommended by the person in your department - that can't hurt if you're thinking of applying at the company.
some, rare days stand out from the general blur of life.
